All through the Word, there are descriptions of God’s character. Jonah and Joel said; “…for I know that You are a gracious and merciful God; slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm.” (Jonah 4:2/Joel 2:13) David, the man after God’s own heart, reveals God’s character in a multitude of heartfelt treasures throughout the book of Psalms. He shares God as One who heals, redeems, forgives. One who is righteous, gracious, faithful, and so much more. It doesn’t take long to search the Scripture and find the goodness of God described.
God, Himself, proclaims who He is
I recently read Exodus 34:6-10; and it literally jumped off of the page and right into my soul. This Scripture moved me; as I heard God, Himself, proclaiming who He is. He stood with Moses on Mt. Sinai and declared that He is merciful, gracious, longsuffering. He announced that He abounds in goodness and truth; that He keeps mercy for thousands. Out of His mouth, He said that He forgives iniquity, transgression and sin. Wow! I can only imagine the splendor of His voice and how the truth vibrated throughout Moses’ entire being.
The ‘God who heals you
God told Jeremiah that His thoughts for him were thoughts of peace with no harm, and a future of hope. (Jer. 29:11) In Exodus, God said that He is the ‘God who heals you.’ (Ex. 15:26) The Scripture is saturated with God, Himself, telling us all the ways that He loves us and wants to give us LIFE…and LIFE ABUNDANTLY.
Loving Father who protects, guards, and adores
In closing, I encourage you today, through God’s word, that He is a kind, loving, gentle, caring God; and He notices every detail of your life. Seek Him to know Him as a loving Father who protects, guards, and adores you.
